Reproductive Medicine and Fertility

Accredited fertility care, from first tests to IVF.

Fertility care is delivered by Mr Subramanian himself from the first appointment to treatment, with more than fifteen years in assisted conception. He is independently accredited by the British Fertility Society, and IVF and ICSI cycles are carried out with King's Fertility.

    About this area

Accredited fertility care, from first tests to IVF.

Mr Subramanian in his consulting room

People come at different points: some are not yet trying and want to understand their reproductive health, some are considering egg freezing, and many have been trying for a while without success. What they share is a need for clarity, so the first consultation starts with your history and your circumstances before any test is suggested. Appointments are usually available within one to two weeks, and the tests you need can almost always be done at that first visit rather than spread across several.

The fertility assessment is done at the same visit wherever possible. For women that means hormone blood tests (AMH, FSH, LH, oestradiol, progesterone and thyroid function) and a detailed 3D pelvic ultrasound performed by Mr Subramanian, including an antral follicle count to assess ovarian reserve and a check for endometriosis, fibroids and polyps. Where the tubes need assessing, a HyCoSy or saline sonogram is arranged. For men, semen analysis and, where useful, sperm DNA fragmentation testing. Results are explained to you in person, with time to talk through what they mean for you and what the options are, rather than sent as a report.

Treatment is evidence-based and personalised, and not every patient needs IVF. Depending on the findings the plan may be to keep trying naturally with monitoring, ovulation induction with letrozole or clomifene, intrauterine insemination with cycle tracking, or IVF or ICSI with frozen embryo transfer timed to your cycle. Where a polyp, fibroid, adhesions or a blocked tube is standing in the way, he operates on it himself.

Egg freezing is offered for fertility preservation, with urgent appointments before chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery. Donor egg, sperm and embryo conception is supported, and pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT-A and PGT-M) can be arranged where appropriate. Couples, same sex couples and single women are all welcome.
